Yes friends, I'm working in Tomorrowland. And as much as I hate the outfits I'm gonna ROCK IT! Plus after a little bit of time I can switch lands! Fantasyland here I come!!
But here are some cool things about Tomorrowland: We have a station called: "Build-your-own-lightsaber" (Oh yeah! I'm totally gonna make one peeps!)! We have a picture station where we put your face onto a classic (or new) Star Wars character. It's way cool! Plus in the Store Command (after Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters) we have tons of pins! And it's just fun! Oh! And fun fact #1 in Star Trader (the store you have to exit Star Tours through): look up the bins and the number on one of them is 07171955. Anyone know that date?? Yeah that's the day the park opened ;) Fun fact #2: On another bin in the same area has the number 07211969 This is the date of when the man walked on the moon! Cool huh?? They actually had monitors set up outside the Star Trader and broadcast Neil Armstrong walking on the moon! ;) Just a little taste of some of what Tomorrowland holds and I hope y'all come see me!

Here are just a few pictures of the past couple days at the Happiest Place on Earth Splash Mountain for the first time ever and Morgan made me sit in front and almost die! We fooled around in ToonTown before they closed it down for fireworks and rode Pirates and Haunted Mansion. More to come as we keep on this journey here!
So you would think that Disney is a pretty cool company to work for right? Well IT IS! For our first orientation we had an information fair where we got lots of free stuff like pens, pins, and such which is awesome! Then they had a panel of former CP'ers (College Programmers) talking to us and answering questions which was helpful. Then the coolest thing happened. We got to tour part of the park AFTER HOURS!!!!!! Yes friends, there was no one in the park but us and the custodial cast. Oh my gosh! It was the coolest experience I've ever had, learning more about the history of Disneyland and about the history of Walt and Disney in general. I don't know how many of you know that there is a clock in the castle. If you have your back to the carousel, and look straight at the castle above the chandelier there it is. No it doesn't work. It's actually set to the time that Walt Disney died in 1966. Which is super cool! Oh and did you know that all the money dropped into the wishing wells/fountains is donated to charities like the Make-A-Wish Foundation and others? Yeah cool right?! Make sure you stop by the fountains in any of the Disney parks and donate your dreams and wishes to make others come true. ;) Today we had our "Traditions" class which is our orientation into the Company as a whole. It was chalked full of info and awesome videos of the magic that we will be creating as a cast member. (I'll admit I teared up multiple times) Many times when Walt was talking it was like he was actually there. After the morning we got to tour the park and learn all we wanted to know. I now know some very interesting Disney magic that of course I will not be telling you. ;) It's all Pixie Dust ;) After we were done with our class we were about to leave when we remembered we needed our company IDs and name tags before we left. DUH. The cast members were playing dumb about it and said that there was someone special here to give us our IDs and stuff. Now we had been hearing this all day already and it usually turned out to be a movie of Walt speaking about us and the company. Therefore that's what we thought. But they had closed the curtains so we thought that it was just a mistake and they were gonna open them to show a movie. Then we heard "I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse." Lo and behold they opened it and there was MICKEY MOUSE!! We screamed and jumped up in our seats clapping and some of us were crying (yes including me) and it was then that we knew we were an official part of this thing we call the Disney Magic! After Mickey led us out of the class we got our IDs and were able to go to the park!! Did I mention for free?! Yeah so me and my roommates spent the evening at Disneyland and we had so much fun! So all in all, a very exciting first week! And we're off to the park today, tomorrow, and Saturday ;)
Oh boy! Guys I'm finally here in my apartment in California! 2 miles away from Disneyland, with a grocery store/gas/food all really close by!
This is like a dream come true. Although I will say that I cried more today than I have in a very long time. I didn't want my daddy and mommy to leave me here. It was one of those panicky moments when you realize everything is gonna change whether you like it or not. But now it's just a get used to things being different and going with the flow. This is going to be great. There are gonna be times when I wish I wasn't here cuz I'm homesick or whatever but I know this is the best thing for me right now. No I don't know what store I'm in yet.......should know soon though (I think Tuesday they tell us) So I will update again with pictures and where I'm at! Ok so not literally..... I can't fly BUT I am flying the nest ;)
Yes people it's time for me to say goodbye for now to AZ and journey on to California (place of my birth) and learn to live on my own ;) I will continue posting on here it just might be as often as I want. Thanks for all those who read this (makes me feel like I'm not completely insane) and please continue to read it and comment when you feel like it ;) I'm very excited to leave the desert for the beach. Leave the "cool" temperatures for actual cool temperatures. Leave the old me behind (not completely of course) and emerge as someone that's confident and better than I was. I'm excited to be a part of the magic for children of all ages (including you grown-ups) and seeing the happiness they show when they are there. I'm excited to work closer with The Mouse ;) Wish me luck and if you ever come to Disneyland give me a heads-up and say hi to me ;) P.S. This summer is the 55th anniversary of Disneyland opening, therefore a big deal. So even if you can't come to the park, check out the vintage merchandise they are going to bring back ;) All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them. Walt Disney And for his employees: You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it requires people to make the dream a reality. Walt Disney |
